Suddenly on June 14, 2022. Predeceased by his son Alexander. Beloved son of Gorden Douglas and Mary Jane (Hocking). Survived by his loving wife Vickie and sister Kathleen Jensen (Mark). Sadly missed by his aunts, Kathleen Gamble, Georgia Gull (Richard Smith) Dianna Martin (Fernand), uncle James Hocking, niece, Darcy and nephew Kevin Jensen, his cousins and his many friends.

Bill’s constant companion was his dog “Tyson”. His extended family included Kate  (Averie and Colton), Danny and Thomas (Melanie), Christopher, Bill and Jeanine, Steven and Genene, Tim, Steve and Barb. Bill is also lovingly remembered by Vivianne, Marcia, Jasmine, Chloe and Hannah.

He enjoyed his motorcycles and drifting down the Rideau in his boat. A fish or two was always a bonus. Bill believed a bad day on the range was better than a great day at work, not that there was ever a bad day at the Stittsville Shooting Club.

Resting at Beechwood Funeral Home, Ottawa

Visiting July 13, 2022, 1200 to 1400 with interment immediately following in the National Military Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Bill was the first military person I had to work with regularly. In the beginning, I find him scary, but soon after I find that he is actually a gentle giant with a very infectious smile/laugh. We will miss you.

Thank you for all of your kindness and support while supporting my old team at DND. Loved stopping by on a visit over to Tunney’s or when I walked my dog in our old neighbourhood in Kanata. We appreciate the trip out to our home with your lovely wife Vickie. You are one of the special ones who will be truly missed.

Hard to say goodbye for now to our nephew known as the gentle giant of the family. We know you will always watch over your Mom and other loved ones. Glad we had a chance to see you when you came camping and were able to share in our trip to LV. Rest peacefully, Bill

From the time I first met Bill when he got posted into Tunney's, he has always been a good friend, with a kind and gentle nature, and a great sense of humour. He was that rare type of person who steps into your life, even briefly, and leaves an indelible, positive impression on you. Bill was a good man with a gentle soul, a good friend, and will be truly missed by so many. Farewell my friend. Rest in peace brother.

I knew you from the smoking area, 10 plus years. The things that struct me most about you were, your gentleness, kindness, hardly said a bad word about anyone. I enjoyed our chats, discussions. We were very opposite, but I will say this, I have met very few men of your character, and I have had not many friends better than you. Though we have not chatted since I left, I for one wish we had. You were a good man and a good friend. Hopefully we will meet again, Brother. RIP and gone way to soon.
