In the early hours of June 4, 2020, Wallace was called to his heavenly home. Predeceased by his parents, Jean and John Walker, Wallace is survived by his loving spouse of forty-nine years, Isobel. He was very proud of his son, Craig (Mélanie Lefebvre) of Ottawa and his daughter, Heather (Robin) McAninch of Pittsburgh, PA, who will miss him dearly. Wallace will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Allison, Connor, and Amanda McAninch, and Justin and Emma Walker, all of whom provided him with such special and loving times together. He will also be greatly missed by his sister, Airdrie Young, and his niece and nephews, Jeanne, Duncan, and Graeme, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Wallace attended St. James Collegiate and earned a B.A., majoring in Economics, from United College (now the University of Winnipeg). He spent most of his career as a District Service Manager with General Motors of Canada, living and travelling around Manitoba, Ontario, and Nova Scotia, then making Ottawa home. During these years, several lasting friendships were made, along with many happy memories. While living in Ottawa, Wallace was a long-time member of Dominion-Chalmers United Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on the Board of Trustees. For a number of years, he also attended Knox Presbyterian Church, making many friends there as well. Our sincere appreciation is extended to the staff of the Emergency Department and Ward 2B of the Ottawa Civic Hospital, who treated Wallace with care and respect during his final hours. Our thanks also goes to the Heart Institute’s Dr. D. Beanlands, Dr. F. Rubens, and Dr. L. Higginson, who ensured that “his motor kept running” over the course of the past thirty years. A Celebration of Life will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Saturday, June 25 at 1 p.m. If so desired, donations in Wallace’s memory may be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

The first time I met Uncle Wally, I was a teenager back in the '90s when he and Auntie Isobel visited the UK. Dad, my brother and I took him down our local 9-hole for a game of golf. En route, he told us of the big 18-hole courses he was used to playing in Canada. I gaped. I had no need. That game of golf stands in the memory as one of the most fun games I've ever played. Thanks Uncle Wally.
2002, newly married, we travelled to Canada. Uncle Wally and Auntie Isobel were wonderful, lending us their lakeside cottage for a lovely honeymoon. We spent several days with them, catching up and visitng the sights. So many wonderful memories we both treasure. X

I knew Wally via Dominion Chalmers United Church where he and his wife Isobel made so many valuable contributions, and Isobel continues to do so. Wally was bright, worldly, but also refreshingly down to earth, and a superb conversationalist. Wally could talk to anyone and make them feel right at home in the process. To Isobel and family. Although it has been many years since I last saw Wallace and your family (at Lake Metigoshe) I have many fond memories of Wallace coming out to Goodlands to visit my grandparents and Uncle Hilt Wallace in the 50’s. And 60’s. Please accept mine and Alana’s deepest condolences.
