It is with great sadness that the family announces Jackie’s passing.  Jackie is survived by her father, Giuseppe Pagliarello, and by her sisters, Maria Pagliarello (Sean McGrath) and Rosa Pagliarello (Joe Aragona). Predeceased by her mother, Natalina Pagliarello (Falsetto). She was dearly loved and cherished by her nephews and nieces, Alexander & Elisabeth Aragona, Adam & Natalie McGrath, as well as her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jackie had a phenomenal career at CBC for 35 years.  She began her career in 1987 as an associate director for English regional news. She then went on to work extensively as a director, notably for CBC Ottawa’s NewsDay and NewsDay Final. Jackie was also regularly involved with broadcasts of Hockey Night in Canada and was part of the Ottawa team that was responsible for establishing the very first Ottawa-based CBC Newsworld bureau.

Jackie spoke four languages: English, French, Italian and Spanish. She loved to travel and was part of the CBC team that broadcast the 2006 Olympic Games from Turin, Italy.  She was blessed with lifelong colleagues at CBC, who are too numerous to thank individually.

Jackie will be dearly missed. Her infectious laugh, sense of humour, and ability to engage in conversation with everyone about everything wherever she went was a bright spot in many a day.

A private visitation, service and reception will be held by invitation only.

The celebration of Jackie's life will occur on Thursday, June 16th. Invited friends will be welcomed to visit at Beechwood National Memorial Centre from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. A reception will follow the service from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Registration for a livestreaming of the service is available above.

Donations in Jackie's name are welcomed, to the Mental Health charity of your choice or The Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health www.theroyal.ca

Maria and Rosa,
We lost a bright, beautiful shining star :-(
We had so much fun together when we were young on our summer visits. I will always remember her laugh, so contagious. I will always cherish those days.
She was there for Patrick as he was entering the world of Sports media. She was happy to give him advice and guidance. And for that I will always be grateful.
I have been waking up everyday thinking about her. I never imagined that you would lose a sibling 2 years after we did. I know in my heart that Gino is there by her side to guide her and pray that they are resting in peace.
Sending you much love and virtual hugs. Maria & family

We are deeply saddened to hear of Jackie’s passing. Jackie truly was a wonderful and bubbly person. I had not seen Jackie in a while , but when we met last year it was like no time had passed and we reminisced and laughed. Our deepest condolences to her family. She will be dearly missed. May she Rest In Peace. ? ?

Deepest condolences to all of Jackie's family, and sincerest thanks in sharing her light with us. And what a light. The biggest laugh in the room ringing from the biggest heart, always gathering the threads of stories to spin into colourful ones. She always wanted to make sure everyone knew how well they'd done, and wanted to make sure people got home safe. I hope she knew just how well she'd done, how safe she made us, how much she was loved. Jackie, thank you. The right words are still failing me. The silence without your laughter is even more deafening somehow . Sending so much love to all who are missing you today.

Jackie was one of the first friends I made at CBC. She always had a smile and a quick nudge to keep me smiling and feeling respected. She worked so hard and unflaggingly took on new challenges and skills. She embraced technology and was a bright light in the room. I am heartbroken. I saw her the day before her retirement and we laughed and planned wine and visits. Huge love to you, my friend. You are loved and will be very missed.

I met Jackie when we were both working in the archives department. We quickly bonded over our love of the British soap Coronation Street. We continued our friendship even when we went on to work in different departments. Inevitably we would chat away about any U.K. show were we watching. And of course, our cats. I will miss Jackie so much. She was a wonderful person.

Jackie was a friend to all of us who worked in Resources in Toronto. From the day I started, she always was a blessing to talk to on the other end of the phone line-- she made you laugh and gave you everything you needed to know. I can still hear her voice and laugh in my head now. My sincere condolences to her family and work friends and colleagues.

We will greatly miss Jackie on Helena Street. She is just one of the many neighbours that made our street the special crew that it is. She was always so warm and we always enjoyed catching up with her at many impromptu street gatherings. We will remember her always in our hearts and will forever uphold her memory on our street. Our sincere condolences to the family?
