William “Duncan” Forbes passed away on Monday, May 30th, 2022 unexpectedly. The world has lost a great father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and all-around remarkable man.

If you asked Duncan, his greatest accomplishment wasn’t his 50 years of service as a sprinkler fitter, it was being a father to his two daughters Miranda and Wynter (Shawn) and a grandfather to his three grandsons Harrison, Franklin and Liam. Duncan’s daughters and grandsons were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Duncan’s kind spirit, passion for sports and love of music will live on through them.

Duncan is survived by his siblings Jim Forbes (Heather), Dale MacDonald (Jim), Janice Fraser (Jim), Marilyn Forbes and many nephews and nieces. Duncan was preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Della Forbes.

A Memorial Service will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa) on Thursday, June 9th from 10:30am to 1:30pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Connor’s Irish Pub (2401 St. Joseph Blvd, Orleans) on Thursday, June 9th from 7pm until last call where we’ll raise a glass (or three) to this incredible man and give him the retirement party he deserved.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Duncan’s memory can be made to CHEO.

I’m so glad I got to know this man over the last 17 years. I’m going to miss hearing his laughter and all the conversations we had, getting random pics of guitars he’s bought and our hockey bets (which he usually won) my condolences to his family. He was a great man and will be missed incredibly by all who knew him.

Devastated by this loss. Dunc was like a father to me my guitar buddy for countless evenings. The best grandfather to my boys I could ever ask for. Rock on my good friend.
