Judith Rose (MacIntosh) Silver, age 76, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Orleans, Ontario. Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Leonard, son Greg (Cindy Ostertag), Stonewall, MB and daughter Janis (Craig Smith), Stittsville, ON, grandchildren, Skylar and Reena Ostertag-Silver, Stonewall, MB, Leah and Eric Exley, Stittsville ON; brother, Sid MacIntosh, New Glasgow, NS; sisters Mary Lou Kaiser, Port Bickerton, NS, Patricia (Gordon) Burns, Antigonish, NS and sister-in-law Hazel Silver, Dartmouth, NS. Judy is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Jean and Sidney MacIntosh of Smithfield, NS, brother-in-law’s Howard Kaiser, Malcom Silver and Marc Brunet, sister-in-law’s Linda (Hayne) MacIntosh, and Judy Silver-Brunet. Judy’s memory also lives on amongst her many-long standing friends going as far back as kindergarten.

Judy was born in Antigonish and resided in Smithfield, NS before she moved to Halifax in 1965 following her graduation from Success Business College in Truro. She then married the love of her life in October of 1967. From there Judy worked in various businesses and government departments from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Lahr, Germany all whilst caring for her own children. After finding home in Ottawa, Judy retired after working at Algonquin College.

By 2004, Judy began recording the family history her mother Jean had collected over many years. This was a passion to which she spent many hours and was able to compile a genealogy with well over 20,000 names going back several generations. As well, she lovingly travelled to Stittsville to babysit her grandchildren and always looked forward to her many visits to Manitoba, Florida and beloved Nova Scotia. In later years she learned to play golf in order to accompany her husband at his favourite pastime and then enjoyed playing with “the girls” who witnessed her one and only “hole in one”.

Judy’s cherished role of wife, mother and gram will continue to live on through the memory of her committed and adoring actions that will always be missed by Len, Greg, Janis and her grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. The family will be receiving condolences from 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the ALS Society. Many loving thanks from Judy and her family are given to the Orleans Palliative Care Team, Bayshore and Carefor Nurses and PSWs for all their help and kindness during this time.

Len, Janis and Greg we are shocked to read of Judy 's passing. When the first limb falls from the family tree it seems like it was only yesterday that the tree was planted. We are amazed at how fast the time went by and we have so many memories to gather and reminisce about. You will have days that you think you can't move on; while other days it will seem like she is just away. Take your time to heal there is no right or wrong amount of time to recover from your great loss. Our condolences to all the family on your loss and know that we will be thinking of you Len and the family. Hugs and prayers to all.
