It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Matthew (Matt) McCoy. Matthew died on March 7th, 2022, one month short of his 54th birthday, in Dar es Salaam,Tanzania. Loving and beloved husband of Helen Fytche, (mother of Summer and Logan), Matthew was adored by his treasured children Molly and Rowan, dearly loved by his older brothers Jeremy (Kari) and Timothy (Tobi), and his nephews Lucas and Jack, and the cherished son of his parents Leslie and Margaret (Maggie). Matthew will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, his bright intellect, his ingenuity, and his gentle, whimsical sense of humour. No longer a “Prisoner of Gravity”, he will forever be held beloved on this earth by his family and his life-long friends.  A private gathering to celebrate Matthew’s life is planned for Saturday, June 18th. For those who would like to make a gift in Matthew’s memory, contributions to Molly and Rowan’s Registered Education Savings Plan would be gratefully received. Memorial gifts may be addressed to: Beechwood Cemetery c/o “The Family of Matthew McCoy” 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON, K1L 8A6, payable to ‘BMO RESP (Molly and Rowan McCoy)’ .
