It is with profound heartbreak that we announce the passing of the Matriarch of the Evraire family. Paulette Evraire (Nana) passed away on the evening of Thursday, December 9th. The heart that filled so many lives with love had simply exhausted itself.
As a woman of faith, her love for St. Jude the Patron Saint of Hopeless Causes, served as her spiritual companion. In Paulette's heart, all were worthy of love.
Born into the world on July 17th, 1941 in Ottawa (Murray Street), Paulette has been re-united with her father Simon Samuel Normand, her mother Jeanne Babin, her stepfather Louis Babin Sr., her daughter Joanne (Jo-Jo), her brother Louis (Babe) Babin and her sister Jeannine (Babin) Parker.
Paulette's life was a memorable journey filled with a resounding happiness especially when she cheered on her children and grandchildren, be it in an arena, on a sports field or a recital stage. Her heart overflowed with the arrival of her great grandchildren.
Though small in stature, she was fierce beyond measure. As a woman of color she forever celebrated the beauty found in all colors of the world.
Paulette was "Mom" to so many especially as her children grew up on Lorne Street. The door was always open and there was always a safe place to rest in her home. Over the years she made many a fan of her home made soup. She loved to dance and was an avid reader. She gave like no other. She loved like no other.
"As big as the sky and as deep as the ocean!"
She is survived by her ex-husband Kenneth Evraire Sr. and her children, Debborah, Jennifer, Joanne (pre-deceased), Ken Jr. (Pamela), Paulette-Poochie and Lance (Lina); the grandchildren James and Joey Fowler; Christopher (Katie) and Jake (Amber) Schweigert; Bezick (Rhea) and Sapphire Evraire; Laney and Laiya Evraire; Elijah, Summer and Nate Steeves-Evraire. They will build on her legacy and trust in her love with each passing day.
Mom’s great grandchildren Amin, Jonathan, Mia, Isla and Maverick Schweigert will draw comfort through the shared stories that will not fade with time.
Nana is also survived by her best friend Ginnette Golightly, a wealth of cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
