Orie passed away peacefully at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa on January 11, 2022 at the age of 65. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Diane (nee MacNichol), his brother, Ziggie (Catherine Aglaure), sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends.
Born in Ottawa, he was the son of the late Harry and Irene Malyniwsky.
His whole life was spent in Ottawa along with childhood adventures, with his older brother Ziggie and several friends, at the family cottage in Manotick. Orie was employed as a bartender at Capone’s restaurant for more than twenty years. During those many years customers shared their stories as Orie was the best listener. He will be remembered for his amazing sense of humour, his impressive wealth of trivia knowledge as well as his exceptional photographic memory. Orie will be greatly missed as he had a gift to love, uplift and appreciate all those that had the privilege to know him.
Orie’s favorite saying goes like this “That’s what I do I cook, I drink and I know things”
The celebration of life for Orie will be held at a later date in the spring or summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.

We were fortunate to have Ori at the helm of the Capone’s bar for so many years. He was the consummate professional; intelligent, conscientious, knowledgeable with a wicked wit and a good ear for listening. Although not a sport’s fan, Ori participated enthusiastically in the numerous and a varied “Hockey Ball” pools over the years. Our deepest sympathy to Diane, Ziggy and family. RIP dear Ori. You will be missed.
