Passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in Ottawa on Friday, December 24, 2021; at the age of 88 years. Cherished wife of 64 years to Edward Louli. Beloved mother of Gabriel Louli (Lydia), George Louli (Susan), Catherine Louli, and Josette Louli-Matheson (Rob). Grandmother of Philippe, Brigitte, Alexander, Emma, Jonas and Leo. Great-grandmother of Olivier.  Survived by her sister Lucie Malt (Georges). Predeceased by her siblings Josette Sabbagh, Marie-Simone Sioufi (late Desi) and Michel Sabbagh (Paula).  Daughter of the late Elias Sabbagh and Catherine Atallah.

Nina was an extraordinary mother, in 1966 she bundled up her four babies and along with her husband crossed the globe to begin a new life in Canada. The gifts of opportunity she gave her family with this bold move have been life altering. She was a generous and loving mother, a giver of many chances. Nina was a teacher, an artist, and a lover of music and song. She was a woman of faith, full of grace and a friend to many. She cherished her six grandchildren and was enchanted with her great-grandchild. She radiates love as that was her life force. We cannot express how much she will be missed.

There will be a Funeral Service held at Beechwood, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, guests are encouraged to please consider attending virtually. For those who wish to attend in person, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination and respect COVID protocols in place.  To preregister for the livestreaming, please visit www.beechwoodottawa.ca . The family will be hosting a Celebration of Nina's Life in the summer of 2022, public health guidelines permitting. Please check back for further information.

I had the wonderful privilege to spend quality time with Nina throughout her last years. Together we created art, laughed, sang, got ourselves out into the great outdoors to admire the gardens and feel the sun on our faces while getting in exercise. The outspoken “I love you’s”, and the care and compassion flowing throughout the Louli family was and is uniquely special and pure joy to witness. Nina was love. While Nina is gone her love clearly remains very much alive. Sending my deepest sympathy, love, and light to all who carry her joyful spirit in our hearts.

Madame Louli - that's always been my name for her, a legacy from when I was a child in her French class in Toronto. I later came to think of her as my Ottawa mom. Then for a while, she was my Senegal mom! Our families grew and still somewhat melded. She knew my sister Louisa, and she came to know my husband Neil. They too remember her as Madame Louli! Neil and I treasure the memory of having Madame Louli as a guest in our home when her dear grandchild Emma was born. She brought us a silk pillowcase that she had painted with yellow tulips - a perfect symbol of her love of beauty, art, and home. Life. She has always inspired me with inspiration of that kind, which she emanated. She enriched my life. It has been an honour to be part of Madame Louli's life.

To the Louli family, Ted and are so sorry to hear about Nina's passing. I was so fortunate to have known her so many years through my son Rob. She was such a gentle and graceful lady and so easy to be with. I have so many memories of her at family gatherings and will miss her. Her memories will be kept alive through her children, grand childen and great grand child. Our prayers and thoughts go out to you during this time of a break in the family circle. All our love, Caroline & Ted.
