Monika Kraft

Passed away peacefully at The Ottawa Hospital- General Campus on September 19, 2020 at the age of 73. After a courageous battle, she is finally pain free and at peace.

She was born to Walburga Kraft, March 21, 1947, in Munster, Germany. She is survived by her husband Robert of 54 years. Her son Dirk (Amy), currently posted in Cold Lake, Alberta. Andre (Ursula), currently posted in Ottawa, Ontario, and Richard of Gatineau, Quebec. Grandmother to Emilie, Natasha, and Samantha. Great-Grandmother to Rylee, and “Shawnee” to Monika Duman. A true military wife, she moved her family between Germany and Canada several times, finally settling in Trenton when Robert retired.

Monika was immensely proud of her boys and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held with interment at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood, Ottawa, Ontario. While Monika loved flowers, the family asks that donations be made in support of The Kidney Foundation of Canada in her memory, in place of sending flowers.

We were so sorry to hear of Monika’s passing. Miriam still sleeps with a cozy blanket Monika gave her and both kids talk about bringing our garden veggies over to your parents and getting treats in return. Her beautifully painted eggs are on display in our home too. Her place and impact in our lives was such a wonderful surprise, she will be missed.
