It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Marthe Ugnat on September 13, 2026, at the age of 84, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Marthe was the beloved wife of the late Dr. F. Antoine Ugnat. She is survived by her children: Anne- Marie (Michel), Jasmine (Jean-Benoît), Antoine, Marie-Claude (Tim), and Philippe (Aimee); and her adored grandchildren: Isabelle, Nicolas (Gabriella), Érika, Mathieu, Sandrine (John), Pierre-Antoine, Étienne, Cassandra, Sébastien, Olivia, Anthony, and Sephora. She also leaves behind her sister Suzanne (the late Athanase), her brothers André (Ginette) and Raymond (Lynne), as well as nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
A sensitive, cultured, and passionate woman, Marthe held the arts and literature close to her heart. Endowed with a sharp mind and great curiosity, she passed on her love of learning, discovery, and culture to her children and grandchildren. Among the cherished memories she leaves behind are those shared with family—moments of happiness and affection that will remain forever etched in our hearts. Though she has left us, everything she loved and everything she shared will continue to live on through us.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel Church, located at 55 Appleford Street, Gloucester, Ontario K1J 1K3. The family will receive condolences starting at 10:30 a.m., and a reception will follow the mass.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the medical teams in the oncology and palliative care units at the Ottawa General Hospital, as well as to all the staff and volunteers at Maison de l’Est (a palliative care residence), for the attentive care, support, and compassion Marthe received throughout her illness.
