Eggarhos, Sunnie

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sunnie Eggarhos (née Praamsma) on Friday, November 29, 2024

Beloved wife of Nicholas Eggarhos. Sunnie will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law, Mahi Milonas.

Cherished stepmother of Christina Eggarhos (Chris), Ruby Le Guerrier (Paul), Spiro Egarhos (Barbara), and loving grandmother to Izabella.

Dearly loved sister of Hilde van Staalduinen of Burlington, her brother Auke and sister-in-law Cathy Praamsma of Lakefield, her sister Lucy, and brother-in-law Jim Veenstra of Durham. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by her parents Wietse and Elizabeth (Soeting) Praamsma, brother Rev. Peter Praamsma, and sister Audrey Flinkert.

Sunnie was a beautiful person who made everyone smile with her caring and compassionate heart. She was always available with a kind word and advice in a time of need. Sunnie was a person of deep faith, which gave her much comfort. Her beautiful smile will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

The family will be receiving family and friends on Saturday, December 7th at 9 am at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery, and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa), followed by a funeral service at 9:30 am.  After the service there will be a burial at Beechwood Cemetery followed by a reception.

To Uncle Nick, my cousins, and Sunnie's siblings, my deepest sympathies. I enjoyed many vigorous conversations with Sunnie over the years about politics and culture - topics in which she was keenly interested. When I was going through a tough time in university, Sunnie and Uncle Nick were there to take care of me. She was always kind to me, and I will cherish my memories of her.

It was with great sadness hearing of Sunnie’s passing. I got to know her when we wintered in Palm Beach. She was always gracious and very caring. We looked forward to meeting her and Lucille for lunch at some great restaurant and catch up on whatever everyone had been up to. I’m so very sorry. My condolences to her family.
