It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Mary Phillips (nee Laforce) announces her passing on November 29th, 2024, at the age of 75. Linda passed away peacefully at Hospice Renfrew after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy Munroe (nee Hashey) and John Laforce, and her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Phillips.
Linda was a loving and devoted mother to her three children: Kimberley (Robert), Sean (Petra), and Robyn (Ben). Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Kirsten, Noah, and the late Nevaeh, who lovingly knew her as “Nana bird.”
Linda was the cherished sister of Jack Laforce, and was predeceased by her siblings; Ron Laforce and Debbie Rear.
Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Linda spent her early years growing up in Pembroke, Ontario. She started her family at a young age, dedicating her life to raising her children with love and devotion. A natural caregiver, Linda worked as a personal support worker and foster parent for many years, touching the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.
Linda had many passions, including gardening, traveling, and a deep love for animals. She often spoke fondly of her trip to Venice and dreamed of returning one day. Known as the “mama bear” of her family, Linda’s protective nature and devotion to her loved ones left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pinard, as well as the staff and volunteers at Hospice Renfrew for their warmth and compassionate care during Linda’s final weeks.
In accordance with Linda’s wishes, a graveside service will be held in the spring of 2025. Further details will be shared at that time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Hospice Renfrew or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Linda’s legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
