It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ross Alexander Phillips of Ottawa on November 24, 2024  at the age of 77. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years Linda née Stevenson, his children Christopher (Crystal), Ryan, Ian (Lindsay) and his cherished granddaughters Piper, Avery and River. Ross will be deeply missed by his brother Bruce (Annette, niece Nathalie) sister Margo (Greg Hodgson), extended family and friends.

Ross was a dedicated Civil Servant with Revenue Canada for 25 years. He built a reputation as a hardworking individual who always put the needs of his family and others  before his own.

The family would like to thank the staff at the CCU at the General Hospital and the staff at the May Court Hospice for their compassionate care.
A private family service was held on November 26th with internment at Beechwood Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the May Court Hospice or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in his memory.

Ross has been a life long friend starting with Boy Scouts in the 1960s , playing hockey together throughout our youth and being each other’s Best mans at our weddings in the early 1970s. Ross developed a sentimental attachment to vacationing at the family cottage in Norway Bay on the Ottawa River , happy to talk to the neighbours and watch his boys enjoy the water and fishing.
Quite often we would receive a phone call from Ross wanting to address some aspect of life, government or friendship which invariably led to a very long telephone conversation. Ross loved to plan any change with great research and prided himself in operating inside his comfort zone, yet never questioned a friend who chose a different path. He respected everyone’s view and way of life.
We will miss him , when the phone rings there will be nobody there.

We send our love to Linda and her boys and extended family.

My mother, husband Roger, and girls were very sad to hear of Uncle Ross's passing. We have many fond memories of him from decades of family reunions, dinners, anniversaries, and other gatherings. I'll miss his jokes and the quiet, gentle way he fit into, and contributed to, our large, boisterous extended family. Condolences to you all. He will be missed.
