Patricia Anne Ellsworth, born March 3, 1942, in Campbellton, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024 after a sudden stroke. She was 82 years old. Pat was the beloved wife of Roger Ellsworth, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion and partnership. Together, they raised their family while navigating the challenges of military life, moving across the country and beyond—including stops in Moncton, Inuvik, Bermuda, and finally settling in Ottawa.
A loving mother, Pat is survived by her sons, Darren (Dominique) of Calgary and Stephen (Molly Bell) of Ottawa. She was a fiercely proud grandmother to her cherished Emma, who brought her immense joy. Pat also leaves behind her brother, Gordon (Elaine) Murray of Halifax, brother-in-law Richard (late Margaret) Ellsworth of Calgary, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family who shared her roots and family memories, which were so important to her.
Teaching was Pat’s calling. She dedicated herself to nurturing young children, finding her heart’s work as a preschool teacher and guiding the littlest ones as they began their journeys in life. Pat’s gentle, grounding influence was a gift to everyone she taught.
A service celebrating Pat’s life will be held at Riverside United Church on Thursday, November 14, at 2 p.m., followed by a reception. She will be laid to rest in a private family service at Beechwood Military Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Riverside United Church would be greatly appreciated.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the tremendous outpouring of compassion including those from Riverside and Orleans United Churches.
