Shirley Nell Calder (nee Cain) entered God's kingdom peacefully at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on November 4th, 2024, at the age of 91 after living with Alzheimer's disease for over 8 years. She lived a long full life, creating beautiful memories with her husband Marcus Calder who predeceased her in 2003. Shirley served her country in the R.C.A.F, her church community at Cardiff United Church, her wider community at the Bancroft Horticultural Society, and her family above all. She was an avid gardener who shared her love of growing things with everyone.
She was predeceased by her older brother David (Joan) Cain, older sister Joan (George) Jones, and younger brothers Leroy and Richard Cain. She will be missed by her family - son Marc (Kimberly) Calder, granddaughter Jessica (Jeffrey) Giles, and great-grandson Jack Giles. She will also be missed by her extended family of nieces and nephews in both the Calder and Cain families.
A memorial service will be held at Winchester United Church on Wednesday, November 13th at 1:00 pm. All are welcome, and encouraged to wear bright colours in memory of all of the beautiful flowers she grew. A private interment will be held at the National Military Cemetery of Canada on November 15th.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.

I'm so sorry to hear of Shirley's passing and the difficulties she has had in recent years. I will always remember her wonderful smile and her good natured spirit. Have fond memories of Andi and my visit with her at Paudash Lake a number of years ago and her wonderful hospitality. Marc and Kim, you will miss her greatly but know she is in a better place with our Lord. Rest in Peace Shirley.
