In the comfort of his home, Dr. David Doyle passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2024. He was 80 years old.

David is pre-deceased by Beth (nee Montague), his loving wife of 40 years as well as by his parents Philip Ernest and Mary Catherine (nee MacDonell) and his brother Philip. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer and Christine (Nigel Mailman), his sister Anne Marie as well as his grandsons Matthew and Benjamin, of whom he was very proud. He will be missed by his extended Doyle, Neville, Montague and Addelman families, including his many nieces and nephews and his many friends and former associates.

He will be remembered for his gentle and loving nature which embraced not only family members and friends but also his little dog Toby, his ever-present companion.

David was a pioneer in his branch of medicine. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree at St. Francis Xavier (Antigonish, NS) and a medical degree at University of Toronto, he went on to specialize in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

With these formidable credentials he established and became the head of the Pediatric Developmental Medicine Clinic at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, where he was respected by his colleagues and revered by his many patients as a warm, thoughtful, reassuring and kind man.

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, in Beechwood’s Chapel at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest a donation to CHEO, the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Center, the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. Francis Xavier University.

I heard about David's passing today. I was very sad to hear the news-I spent many years as his veterinarian, and always enjoyed my visits with him, and his beloved Toby. A gentle, kind man. I will miss him.

So sorry to hear about David's passing. I still can't believe the news. My heart is heavy. So many years chatting with him and taking care of Toby as his groomer. He was such a caring and kind soul. Such a pleasure to be around and share conversations. From me and the whole team here at Purrdy Paws, may you rest in peace David. I'll miss you everyday.

My years at CHEO, working with David, were memorable. David provided me with guidance and support and he was very compassionate with the children and their families.
My wife, Claudette and I also enjoyed many dinners and get togethers with David and Beth.
We will be out of country on the service dates but we want to express our most sincere condolences to Jennifer, Christine, Anne Marie, grandchildren and his entire family. David, you will be missed.

My sincere sympathy to the Doyle family and all other extended families. It was my privilege to get to know David way back in the years 1967 and 1968 when he and MIchael Neville invited me to share an apartment in Toronto when Mike and i were in our first year at U of T Law School and David was attending U of T Medical School. It was obvious then that he was a very good and decent and kind man and later did wonderful in the field of medicine. He certainly left the world a much better place because of his presence. Sincere best wishes to his family and to all extended families.
