It is with profound sadness we announce the death of our dearest loved one who passed naturally at the age of 28 at CFB Borden on June 24, 2024.

He will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife Ashley and their furbaby Minuit. He will be dearly missed by his parents Lise and Réjean, and his siblings Catherine, Émilie and Olivier. He will be fondly remembered by his niece Marylee and nephews David and Louis-Pierre, his friends and fellow service members.

Dominique was born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec on April 22, 1996, and moved to Saint-Guillaume and later Drummondville. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces on March 7, 2017, as an Infanteer and was posted to the 2e Bataillon Royal 22e Régiment (R22eR). He voluntarily transferred occupations to Traffic Technician, joining the 5e Bataillon de Services and later posted to Alberta where he joined 1 Service Battalion and participated in multiple exercises including OP LENTUS during Alberta Wildfires. Known for his positive attitude and enthusiasm, he quickly integrated into his new team, being one the first to volunteer and serve.

He enjoyed the open road, gaming, building legos, running, hiking and other hobbies but above all, he preferred spending quality time on a road trip adventure with his wife or at home with her and their cat. They will remember his bright blue eyes, his cheeky smile, his vibrant laughter, his curious and adventurous spirit and his unique sense of humour.

Dominque, husband, cat dad, son, brother, friend, lego builder, gamer, adventurer, a helping hand when in need, munition and meme enthusiast, and dedicated public servant.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, July 11th at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON) from 5-7 PM and Friday, July 12th from 12-2 PM followed by the funeral service.  Interment will take place in the National Military Cemetery of Canada at 3 PM.

With what I read about his hobbies and his desire to be active with others Dominique would have been more than welcome at any of our 933 Tfc Tech reunions. As a Tfc Tech in sure his name will be mentioned at our Vernon reunion in Sep. RIP Young son.

Meeting you was such a pleasure my friend. Although you only worked for me for a short time, I had big plans for you. You were recommended for all courses and deployments. Not a negative word was ever spoken about you or your work ethic, you were a great soldier. Thank you for your service, and thank you for working so hard for me. The Canadian Forces is weaker without you, but you made us stronger by giving us your short time. Thank you. Goodbye brother. We will remember them.

TAMS was so excited to have him join our section at 1 Svc Bn. Although I did not work with Dom long before I was posted out, he was the first to volunteer and his work ethic was amazing! The loss of this young man definitely breaks my heart. Gone far too soon. RIP Cpl Bechard.

We grew up together since we were 3 years old. We were always playing together. When we were young, each time I broke something in his house while playing, he took the blame.
Even adult, we kept playing board games and video games, a few times a month, with our friend Ana. We still are last known persons to have a chat with him. I'm happy to have had the chance to play one last online Risk game with Dom. His last known words were "À prochaine". ("See you next time" in english.)

Je suis heureux d'avoir grandi avec un bon ami comme toi. À prochaine.

On behalf of the team at CFLTC, we wish to convey our profound condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Dominique. His course-mates and staff were deeply affected by his unexpected loss. Dominique is remembered at CFLTC as a dedicated student and consummate professional always willing to lend a hand to his fellow course-mates. The impact he has had on both staff and students here in Borden will forever live on.
Nous nous souviendrons.

My sincerest condolences to Ashley and Dominique’s close ones.
I had the pleasure to work with “Bech” at 2R22eR for some time. Quiet, attentive, motivated, and always ready to help his fellows…
Dom was always an asset to any team he worked with as he could power through the most demanding portions of the infantry life, and still have a cheeky grin or a witty comment for his colleague.
Though a greyman extraordinaire, he was a friend to all.
As devastated as I am by this loss, I will always cherish the memories of this kind young man.

Je me souviens

Goodbyes are not forever and they are not the end. Is a little pause between loved ones until they meet again.

We pray for the Bechard family and Ashley.
May God gives you all the strength needed to let your hearts heal. We also pray for Dominique's rest beside God.

Thank you for your service and your friendship Dominique. We will remember you
