LAVIGNE, Pierre Marcel
February 5, 1946 - February 21, 2024
Dr. Pierre M. Lavigne passed away peacefully at the Glebe Centre in Ottawa on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.
He is mourned by his wife of over 52 years Lilian (Boivin) and his three children, Jerome (Nadia Gilchrist), Julie (Richard Stephens), and Robert (Judy Chung), as well as his granddaughter Annie Stephens. He will also be missed by his sister Andrée (Raymond Kearns), his brother Marc (Liza Vaillancourt), his sister-in-law Hélène Boivin (Raymond Lapointe), his brother-in-law Jacques Boivin, and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Ottawa on February 5, 1946, he was the son of the late Olivette Desjardins and the late Dr. Maurice Lavigne. He graduated from the medical school at the University of Ottawa in 1972. After almost 15 years in public health in Nova Scotia and Québec, he worked at Sanofi in Toronto before retiring to Ottawa in 2011. Despite a gradual loss of vision due to glaucoma, he had many hobbies including camping, fishing, photography, travel, and poultry husbandry.
A private interment will be held at the Beechwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Canada or the CNIB are appreciated.
