Rose Saikaley (née Kanaan)

(1941 – 2024)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Rose Saikaley on February 22, 2024, at the age of 83. She took her last breath on the 22^nd which marks the day of Saint-Charbel’s most extraordinary miracle. She prayed to him, believed in him and unwaveringly lived and died by his preachings. May she rest in peace.

Beloved wife of Frank Saikaley, caring stepmother to Susan Saikaley (Peter (Chich) Mineault), Tony Saikaley and Diane Saikaley (Jacques Carisse) and Teta to five cherished grandchildren, Ricky, Peter, Jenna, Kelsey and Mikhael. Devoted aunt to 33 admiring nieces and nephews. Survived by her loving and brave sisters Marie (late Elias Kharyati) and Mounira (Semaan Semaan).

She was charming, graceful, and caring and made all of us feel special!  

Together, husband, stepchild, sister, niece, nephew, friend, in flesh or in spirit, we draped her with our warmth and affection day and night until she reached her final resting place. The loss of this brilliant, gorgeous and wise woman leaves a void that we will spend the rest of our lives filling with countless memories.

She is pre-deceased by a family that made her proud: her parents Kanaan Kanaan and Aziza Boumrad, her brother Philippe Kanaan (Nadia Kanaan), her sisters Samira (late Joe Thomas), Hanneh (late Halim Makhoul), Victoria (late Fares Saikaley), and Soeur Emmanuelle.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Charbel Maronite Church, 245 Donald Street, Ottawa, Ontario. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.

Our aunt did not wish to have flowers. We kindly request that in lieu of flowers, you make donations to Saint Charbel Church and/or to the Montfort hospital where she received excellent and compassionate care by the staff at the Intensive care unit. There will be a box at the church for donations.
