It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Dianne Kemila on January 6, 2023 at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Emil (Al) Kemila, and her parents Harry and Katherine Seller. She is survived by her children Katherine, Dale (Rena), and Mark (Annic Deguire), her grandchildren Stephanie (Cayla Cronier), Chris, Winter and Kym (Dominic Caruso), her sister Audrey Euteneier (Ron), brother-in-law Cliff (Carole Petrin), sister-in-law Bev (Steve), nieces Rhonda (Allan), Stacey (Rod), Lisa (Bernard), Beverly, nephew Owen, and great-grandchildren Madison and Austin.
Sharon was born in Carrot River, SK on May 9, 1943. She grew up on the farm there and in Regina, SK. After marrying Al in 1961, they moved to Winnipeg, MB, Petawawa, ON and Frobisher Bay, NWT (now Iqaluit, NU) before settling in Ottawa, ON, to raise their family. Sharon was a homemaker, and was known for being a good cook and baker. Sharon and Al were very involved with their community, and spent countless hours volunteering with the Forbes and St Laurent Hockey Associations. After Al’s retirement, they enjoyed travelling with their dogs in the RV.
Following Al’s passing from cancer, Sharon gained a new circle of friends at The Crosswinds Apartments, who provided amazing support to her during her battle with breast cancer and after her first bout with lymphoma. She loved getting together with them for their aquafit classes and monthly lunches.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to Big Sky Ranch Animal Sanctuary (www.bigskyranch.ca) or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
