It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Margaret Mary Ann (Rooney) Olson on Monday September 19, 2022 at the age of 77.
Margaret was the devoted wife of Major (Ret) Robert (Bob) Olson and the daughter of Gordon and Angeline (Cassivi) Rooney of Douglastown, Quebec. Margaret is survived by her loving husband Bob and son Christopher along with step children Steven (Genevieve) and Kirsten as well as Grandchildren Cassandra, Anthony, Brandon, and Meikah.
Also mourning her loss are her brothers Andrew (Martha), William (Adelia) and Eugene (Valerie) Rooney and sister Melinda (Wayne) Sturgeon along with many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was born in Douglastown (Gaspe) Quebec on October 1, 1944. She was awarded a Teaching Diploma from St Joseph Teacher College Cross Point in 1964 and achieved her Baccalaureat en Pedagogie from Montreal University in 1971 and taught in various schools in Quebec. In 1978 she married Bob in Bagotville Quebec and embarked on a most challenging career as a military spouse and mother, tasks she accepted and accomplished with love, devotion, good grace and humour.
Margaret will be interred in a grave that she will share with her husband Bob in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood, Ottawa. A private family burial and Celebration of Life will be held.
Rest In Peace Margaret
In Memoriam Donations to Canadian Heart and Stroke or Canadian Mental Health Association will be appreciated.

"Tis better to have loved and lost," Tennyson wrote, "than never to have loved at all." While I have found that sentiment to be cold comfort in the immediate aftermath of loss, it is a pointed reminder that we are all of us the better for having known those who have left us too early.
And without question, Genny and I are better for having known Margaret, who was a source of kindness in our lives - she was always supportive of any endeavour we were about, big or small. As Genny often remarked, she was the sweetest person in our lives, a sentiment that was shared by, I'm sure, all who knew her well. We will miss her dearly.
Our deepest sympathies to Bob, Chris, and all her family and friends.

My sincere condolences, Bob, to you and your family. Having gone through the same thing in June, I wish you get the full support of all the loved ones surrounding you, as I was fortunate to get from my own. Such a support will enable you to eventually go through this hard time. If you need anything, please feel free to contact me.
