Passed away peacefully at the age of 61. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Isabel MacDonald as well as his dear sister, Margie MacDonald. He will be fondly remembered by many friends and family members, especially his niece who selflessly dedicated herself to his care.

Everyone who met Gary adored his company and always had something nice to say about him. When out in public, it was like walking with a celebrity. He was everyone's friend and always took the high road. Gary served as a PSW in the Ottawa area for many years. Through his work, he was able to bring joy and happiness to all he served.

He never was upset, and when asked "Why?, he would simply answer, "Because I don't have any expectations." This explained his constant sunny disposition.

We were so lucky to have had so many wonderful memories with him. Love you forever Gary! An inurnrnent has taken place at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.

Gary you are the most unselfish, kind and considerate person I know and as my brother you are an inspiration to me and you will always be in my heart....love you forever and always. John Kenneth is not alone with such a great Uncle beside him. Today is full of memories of a Brother laid to rest and every single one of them is filled with happiness. For you were someone Special always such a joy to know and there was so much pain when it was time to let you go. That's why this special message is sent to HEAVEN above for the angels to take care of you and give you ALL MY LOVE.....Joanne

Incredibly hard to write this. Gary was my second cousin, but was so much closer to me than that.

My memories of Gary start from a young age visiting him, and family in Blossom Park. I was always hoping my Mom and Dad would bring me to Aunt Isabel’s and Uncle Joey’s place. The main factor being I got to spend time with Gary. Gary no matter the age was youthful at heart. I would spend time with him from as early as grade two watching him play video games. Being enamoured with going through virtual adventures with him.

Gary also loved sports. He would take me to my first ever hockey game back at the Civic Center for the Ottawa 67’s while I was under the age of 12. We went to numerous Ottawa Senators games, a Grey Cup, taking in World Cups. Gary always enjoyed watching sports.

Gary was also a devoutly religious. I’ll never forget as a child the framed image of the Footprints poem. One memory I have is he we would always say grace before eating. That was pretty standard for eating when we were home. But one time at the McDonald’s on St. Laurent near Elmvale Mall, I Iead grace at the table inside the restaurant. He was shocked by it, and would bring it up anytime we went to go eat a fast food joint.

I could ramble on for hours of stories and times with Gary. As I’m sure everyone else has their own tales. Gary, you’re one of a kind. I’ll carry your memory onwards forever. You’ll always be my pilot.

Your co-pilot (copi)

Fishing trips, hockey, going for a meal or a coffee, adventures. 38 years of being a friend. We had a fishing trip planned that will not be the same without you Bud. Gary was a great guy, a God Father to my daughter Mia, a friend of the Voss family, and all around good guy to hang out with and talk. Thanks for your friendship and support and for being a good example and a straight arrow.
