With great love, sadness and loss, Myra and Jen share the news of the death of their husband and father, Don Johnson, on January 17, 2026.

This is also a time of sadness for Don’s in-laws Dorothy Johnson, Larry Stevens and John Wright, and all of Don and Myra’s much-loved Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

A great joy over Don’s lifetime was being involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews, watching them grow to become the fine adults they are today, many with families of their own. Don had so many stories and memories of his Aunts, Uncles and Cousins from when he would visit with them in Thunder Bay when he was young.

Jerry and Pam Chaisson and family have been a cherished second family for Don; Jerry and Don have been like brothers throughout their lifelong friendship.

Don will be missed by many friends as life took him from Winnipeg to Toronto and further settling in Ottawa.

We would like to share the following message Don had received from Alec Lyall: “Remember that the kindness, the wisdom, and the love you have shared will live on in so many hearts long after. You have made a real, and lasting difference.”

With respect to Don’s wishes, no funeral service is to be held; a gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

I always enjoyed seeing Don at Pam and Jerry’s for supper. Condolences to Myra and family is this difficult time.

Me and Jen, we are thinking of you, your family and friends as you navigate a new and different reality without Don. As the days go by, we have been reflecting on our times spent with Don. Thankfully, the conversations, shared ideas and laughter will be memories we hold fast in our minds and hearts.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Donny was not only my cousin but a good friend to me. He loved his music, playing guitar and seeing James Taylor whenever he could. I will miss his witty humour.
