It is with the heaviest of hearts that our family must share the news of the passing of Larry Fischer on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 83. Larry passed, surrounded by family, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Larry was, and will always be, a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
We know in our hearts that Larry has left us to join his parents, Eugene and Elida, his sister Norma (Ivan Kreller) and his brother Armand (Doris). He will be greatly missed by his sister Sandra (Cam Dougall). He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Rosemary, and four daughters for whom he was the best dad any girl could wish for. Tanya (Dale Trottier), Karen (David Green), Kelly (Richard Brant) and Andee (Marcello DiFranco). Larry also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Sam and TJ, Paola and Maxx, Romey and Rachel, Sonny and Vanessa. His many nieces and nephews will remember his loving heart.
Born on August 31,1942, Larry grew up in a loving family in a farming community in Ayton, Normanby Township. Farm life, however, was not in his future. Instead, he set his sights on seeing the world. As a teenager he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where his calm and steady nature allowed him to follow his dream of becoming a pilot. Retiring from the RCAF after 25 years of adventure, Larry continued his love of flying as a commercial pilot until his true retirement at the age of 65.
Larry enjoyed his retirement years to the fullest. With time to spend on his favourite hobbies, his quiet, artistic side shone bright. A gifted woodworker and gardener, who also dabbled in the art of stained glass, he kept busy whether at home in Trenton or while living at his and Rosemary’s winter condo in Florida. We are so grateful for his many talents, because of them we have keepsakes to cherish for the rest of our lives.
No matter where life took him, Larry always found solace in connecting with fellow veterans - sharing stories, laughter, and the quiet bond of service. He and Rosemary eventually relocated to Kemptville to be closer to family and where he would golf in the summer and curl in the winter. Most of all he just loved spending time with those closest to his heart. We know he saw each and every one of us as his greatest achievement.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we would be most grateful for donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Dad, our hearts are broken, we are going to miss you forever.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Even though we met Larry later in life, those birthday gatherings with Kelly and Andee’s kids with my family were lovely.
He was such a sweet man. My heart goes out to Rosemary, Kelly and Andee and the extended family.

Steady,kind, and calm. That’s how I’ll remember my Uncle Larry. It was always really cool when he would stay over with us after flying into Toronto. Wake up in the morning and his pilot uniform hanging there, amazing Uncle. I’m very sad that you are gone, but my memories fill me with smiles.

It is difficult for us to process that this gem of a man is gone. We have known Rosemary and Larry since the 1970’s when we were posted in Moose Jaw when Bill was completing his Pilot training. So many wonderful memories of our times together there and in later years in Trenton. We have been blessed to have both he and Rosemary as dear and close friends. We want all of the family members to know you are all in our thoughts during this difficult time and we are heartbroken over the loss of this special soul.
