My Dad, Don Freeman, was a good friend to Carl in the Central Band. I had the opportunity to meet up with Carl when I joined the Ottawa Community Concert Band this year. He had approached me at one of my first rehearsals with the Band and told me he fondly remembered my Father.
Carl will always be remembered for his musicianship and his kindness.
My deepest condolences to the Stapleton Family.
RIP Carl.

I played one season with Carl in the Ottawa Rube Band, and heard from him he tutors french horn students at Canterbury. He offered to help out my son Noah, and as Noah wrote here, it was Carl that taught him to play so well. We'd always talk with him when we saw him play with the Rube Band at various Oktoberfests. I will miss him, and I am grateful to have known him.

Carl taught my daughter French horn for 5 years. He brought the love of music into our home, and helped boost her confidence and play her French horn flawlessly.
Carl was not only a music teacher to my daughter, but a close friend to our family. The first year he was my daughter’s teacher, we made sure he knew how Much we cared, we made sure he put his own special ornament on our Christmas tree
Carl, I’m sorry we couldn’t say goodbye, but you will always be in our heart.
