After more than 68 years of marriage, Wilda Jean Sanders, nee Davidson, passed away peacefully on May 26th in her 90th year.  Beloved wife of Roland Sanders, she will be missed by her many friends and family.  She was dearly loved by her two children, Gregory (Erica) and Pamela (deceased), her three grandchildren, Brian (Judit), Daniel (Olivia) and Heather (Kyle), and her two great grandchildren, Ben and Elena.

Close relatives include her predeceased father William Davidson, mother Jean Davidson, nee MacQuillan, brother Kenneth Davidson and sister-in-law Stephanie.  Wilda was a loving sister-in-law and aunt to many relatives in New Brunswick and Maine.

Wilda was born in Barrie, ON., lived in the village of Angus and attended Barrie Collegiate.  She graduated from Toronto Teacher’s College and summer school upgrades at McMaster University.  Upon graduation, she accepted a position as a primary school teacher at Walter Perry in Scarborough.  She moved to Fredericton, NB in 1958 to join Roland who was transferred to Camp Gagetown, to work as a primary school teacher for two years, before raising two children.  She later joined CRA as a tax assessor.

Wilda was a dedicated homemaker, wonderful cook, hostess and seamstress.  She was a doting mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a member of the Angus Presbyterian Church followed by membership in the United Church of Canada.  She was a Girl Guide leader in Barrie.  She loved to play cards with friends but her passion was to play Bridge with her Bridge Club.

Wilda spent her last months in two long term care homes, Carlingview Manor and Carleton Lodge, both of which provided her with excellent care and helped her move into her final journey.

God bless Wilda, you will be missed but never forgotten.

If you wish to honour Wilda, a donation to the Dementia Society would be appreciated. Her family will honour her with flowers.
