Thérèse Chabot

It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing of Thérèse at the age of one hundred.

Thérèse was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA, where her parents Omer and Marie Ann Menoche had immigrated from Quebec during the depression. Thérèse was the youngest of five children – Horace, Rachel, Jeannette and Doris. In February 1944 Thérèse married a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, Loyola “Roy” R.L. Chabot. Her children were born in Rhode Island – Claire (1945), Richard (1946) and Lloyd (1951). Thérèse returned to Canada with each of her children shortly after their births, and lived on several Canadian Forces bases where her husband had been posted. His final posting was to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, where she and her husband lived in retirement.

Thérèse’s husband predeceased her on October 21, 2018, after 74 years of marriage. She sold her house in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and moved to Orleans, Ontario, where she lived at The Promenade Retirement Home in a one-bedroom apartment for almost 8 years.

Thérèse is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: daughter Claire Munn (Harold) and their sons Eric (Joyce) and their children Grant and Aidan, and Mark (Lucy) and their children Naomi and Paul, by son Richard (Pieternella) and their daughters Victoria and Heather, and by son Lloyd (Ann) and their son Allan and his children Jessica and Bradley.

Thérèse will be fondly remembered by family members in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Florida, and North Carolina: Claire Botelho (Robert, predeceased) and their children, by Joseph Botelho (Patricia) and their children, by Richard Botelho (Sharon) and their children, by Eileen Botelho (Philip, predeceased) and their children, by William “Bill” Botelho (Deborah) and their children, by Joan Follo (Philip) and their children, and by Paulette Scarpetti (Don) and their children.

Thérèse was a wonderful woman, life partner, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law and loving and caring aunt to her many nephews and nieces. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her long and faithful life and love is an inspiration to us all.

The family of Thérèse wish to thank our dear friend Colleen Kerr for all the creative support she provided over the years as well as Dr. Melissa Guindon, the nurses, PSWs, and other staff members at the Promenade Retirement Residence, Montfort Hospital (4^th floor) and the Beacon Heights Retirement Residence (6^th floor Transitional Montfort Hospital).
