It is with heavy hearts that we announce that SERAFIM FERREIRA DE SOUSA, 91, of Ottawa Ontario, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the Ottawa General Hospital.
Serafim was born April 1,1935, in Fanzeres, Porto, Portugal, to Manuel and Maria De Sousa. Â In May 1964, he married Maria Odete De Almeida Vieira. They were married fifty-six years.
SERAFIM immigrated to Canada in 1968 where started his new life and worked as an upholsterer with his cousins for a few years before opening his own shop until he retired in2004.
SERAFIM loved his family and friends, always ready to help whoever needed help. He enjoyed life and tried to explore this new country. He was part of the Portuguese community and took part as president of the Portuguese community center of Ottawa for a number of years
SERAFIM is survived by his son, Antonio and his wife Chantal, grandchildren; Manuel, Jessica and his daughter in-law; Geng and grandchildren; Vicky and Filipe, sister Herminia, nephews and nieces in Portugal. He was preceded in death by his wife Odete, youngest son Paulo, parents and his brother and two sisters.

Cremation will be held at Beechwood Funeral and Cemetery and Cremation Services; 280 Beechwood Ave, Vanier ON. A funeral will be held at a later date followed by a burial at Beechwood Cemetery.
