It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather, James Robert (Bob) McLean.
Born in St. Peters Bay, Prince Edward Island, he was the eldest of 3 children of Glendon McLean and Bertha McInnis. Bob was predeceased by his siblings Harold, and Danny. Bob was married to Jacqueline (Jackie) Leblond for 68 years, prior to Jackie’s passing in 2025.
He is survived by his sons Brent (Alice), Randy (Diane), granddaughters Katie (Shezan) and Emma (Emir) and grandson Michael, and his two great- granddaughters Leila and Maya.
Bob was a fun and gregarious guy, a devoted family man, and a true Islander to the end. In retirement, Jackie and Bob were fortunate to travel widely, to see old friends made during Bob’s 30 years in the military, and when back home, they loved taking care of their grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Sylvie Crete, Heather and Glenford, Bob’s nurses, and the staff at the Beacon Heights Retirement Home for all their support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Beechwood National Memorial Centre (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, ON) on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 12 to 2 p.m. Those who know Bob are invited to attend.
