It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Gravelle, who passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ron leaves behind his beloved wife, Melinda; his four children, Serge, Melanie, Caroline, and Elianna; and his three stepdaughters, Samantha, Rosy, and Tanya. He was also a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Predeceased by his brother, Gary Gravelle, Ron will be deeply missed by his sister, Brenda; the mother of his children, Pierrette Gravelle; his many nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, extended family, and the countless friends whose lives he touched throughout his 82 years.
Ron enjoyed a fulfilling career with Air Canada, where he took great pride in his work and forged many lasting friendships. In retirement, he remained an active and proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Retiree Club, Local 586, a community that meant a great deal to him.
Ron was a man who truly loved life, embracing both its joys and challenges with strength, kindness, and an unwavering sense of humour. He had a remarkable ability to bring light into the lives of those around him, whether through a thoughtful gesture, a warm smile, or one of his unforgettable dad jokes. His laughter was contagious, his heart was generous, and his presence made the world a little brighter.
Above all, Ron will be remembered for the love he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the memories he created with those fortunate enough to have known him.
Though he may no longer be with us, his humour, kindness, and love of life will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Beechwood Funeral Home, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario.
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, celebrate Ron’s life, and remember a man who brought so much laughter and love into this world.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario) in Ron’s memory.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. ❤️
