It is with profound sadness, but also with immense gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Rolande Ouimet Currier, at the age of 91, in Ottawa on October 24th, 2026

Born in Vankleek Hill, Ontario, and a longtime resident of Hawkesbury, Rolande was a remarkable and accomplished woman whose quick wit, intelligence, warmth, and unmistakable sense of humour left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Thoughtful, endlessly curious, and always interested in the world around her, Rolande had a wonderful appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid gardener with a passion for horticulture, a talented cook, an artist, a lover of music, and a dedicated volunteer who generously shared her time and talents with others. Her love of words, language, and games reflected her sharp mind, playful spirit, and lifelong enthusiasm for learning.

Above all, Rolande cherished her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to three daughters and a son and took immeasurable pride and joy in her only grandchild, Alexandre McLellan (Camille Guertin), whom she absolutely adored.  She would have been overjoyed to have known her great granddaughter, Gwen.   She will be deeply missed by her three daughters, Anne-Marie (Ron Coleman), Louise, and Nicole.  She will be remembered by many friends, nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.

Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the laughter she inspired, and the countless memories she leaves behind.  She will be forever loved.

To honour Rolande’s memory, in lieu of flowers or donations, the family invites you to perform a simple act of kindness toward a senior or someone living with dementia. A thoughtful gesture, a helping hand, or a moment of companionship would be a meaningful tribute to Rolande’s life.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Melissa Lortie and the staff at the Centre d’accueil Champlain for the compassionate care and kindness they provided to Rolande.

The family will receive relatives and friends on November 12th at 10:00 at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00, with a light lunch served afterwards.
