Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Richmond, passed away peacefully on  October 29th, 2026, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s. He was 91. His final moments were spent peacefully in the Cardinal Creek Retirement Residence in Ottawa, surrounded by his family.
Richmond was the supporting foundation of our home and family. Richmond was married to Florence (nĂ©e Jalbert) for 61 years before she pre-deceased him in January 2025. He is survived by his siblings Nelson, Lise and AndrĂ©e. He raised three boys, Michel (63), Richard (62) and Paul (61), in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. As a grandfather to CĂ©line, Danielle, Rachelle, Nathan and StĂ©phane, he was the “lovable grand-papa,” who watched over them and instilled in them the meaning of family. As a great-grandfather to Ethan, Daphne and Riley he will be remembered as “GP”. As a father-in-law to Tracy, Martine and Neil, he welcomed them immediately and he cared for them as if they were his own children.
Richmond was known for his love of moose hunting and fishing up in northern Ontario with his elder brother Nelson and later on, Florence accompanied them each fall. Richmond was a dependable man who supported his parish church as a council member and as a long-serving member of the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Richmond was valued hoisting engineer or more commonly called a crane operator whose last major project was supporting the construction of the twinning of the Bluewater Bridge.  He was recognized as a tinkerer, someone who dabbled in plumbing, electrical, welding and auto mechanics in his garage. He applied this passion to keeping the family room well maintained. At the family’s request, there will be no funeral services, however, there is planned a “Celebration of Life” in the Spring in Sarnia where he lived for 50+ years.
