It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard “Pops” Nolan on October 3, 2026 at the age of 82. A long serving and proud member of the Governor General’s Foot Guards and former Band Sergeant Major of the Regimental band. Predeceased by his wife Sandra (nee Gasper), his parents Don and Violet, and his brother Desmond. Loving father of Phil and Kerry. Proud grandfather of Cassandra, Alex, Christian and Daniel. He is survived and fondly remembered by his sister Joyce, along with many extended family members and close friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services on Saturday, October 10th from 10am to 12pm.

Digital Guestbook

  1. Rick was an excellent friend, staying in touch over the many years and great distances. A great person to have known.
My deep sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues.

  2. My condolences to you, Kerry and Phil along with your families. Godspeed Mr. Nolan.

  3. Rick was a good friend I got to know when he played for over 30 years in the Centralaires Concert Band and served as Treasurer until recently.
We will miss his sense of humour. My condolences to Kerry and Phil and their families.

  4. Remembering “Uncle Ritchie’s” gentle nature with great fondness. You are all in my thoughts & prayers.

  5. Sorry for your loss Kerry, Phil and Joyce and other family and friends. Rick was steadfast in his contributions to the Centralaires Concert Band and I never got to thank him for that. He showed an equanimity in facing life’s challenges. One day he remarked on a photo I had taken on FaceBook of the Dominion Observatory and he casually went on to say he worked there and took photos of the sun for NASA. He was one of a kind, he will be missed.
