Raymonde Gravel was born a Morrissette in Joliette, Quebec, passed away July 2nd, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario. She will be remembered with love for the warmth, grace, and quiet strength she brought to everyone who knew her.
She lived a life marked by devotion to family, steadfast friendships, and a genuine kindness that left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of crossing her path. Raymonde carried herself with dignity and compassion, and she was deeply cherished by those closest to her for the steady presence she offered throughout her life. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to her loved ones.
Raymonde Gravel is lovingly survived by her husband, Andre, and her son, Martin. She was predeceased by her son Erick, was a proud grandmother to Nathan and Alyssa Erick’s children, and she held a special place in her heart for their mother, Marla.She is also survived by her siblings, Pierrette Doohan and her husband Jim, Gisele Morrissette and her husband Pierre La rue, Denis Morrissette and his wife Lise Patenaude, and Renee Ashcroft and her husband Tim. Raymonde also leaves behind many relatives, longtime friends from her DFO clan and many others, especially Nicole Dumas Melanson, whose friendship meant so much to her over the years.
Raymonde devoted a meaningful part of her career to serving the Government of Canada, Department of Fisheries and Oceans where she was respected for her professionalism, reliability, and commitment. Her work reflected the same integrity that guided so many other aspects of her life. She approached her responsibilities with care and dedication, and she earned the esteem of colleagues who valued her thoughtful nature and dependable spirit.
Outside of her professional life, Raymonde found joy Reading books and in travel, in the friendships she cherished in Cuba. These interests brought her happiness, treasured memories, and opportunities to connect with others in ways that enriched her life. She appreciated the beauty of new experiences and the comfort of familiar companionship, and she embraced both with enthusiasm and gratitude.
Those who knew Raymonde will remember her for her gentle heart, her loyal nature, and the love she gave so freely. She had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and her presence brought steadiness and warmth to family gatherings and moments shared with friends. Her life was a testament to the importance of kindness, devotion, and enduring relationships.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to family Dr. Gagnon, Dr. De Gasperis-Brigante and palliative Dr. Brodeur and the nursing staff for the care and compassion shown to her. Their kindness and support brought comfort during a difficult time, and their efforts will always be remembered with sincere appreciation.
