“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nicolas Zacharia Skaff, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the age of 93.

Nicolas was a loving and devoted husband to Lody, a proud and caring father to his daughters and sons-in-law, Doly (Roger Lamia), Marie (Tony Maatouk), and Angela, and an exceptionally proud Jedo to Anthony, Alexa, Nicholas, Michel, Ava, and Nicole, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life. Family was at the center of his world, and nothing made him happier than seeing those he loved healthy, successful, and gathered together.

Born in Zahle, Lebanon, Nicolas later made Ottawa his home. He was predeceased by his parents, Zacharia and Marie Skaff, and his brothers, Elie and George Skaff. He is survived by his sister Samira, brother Robbie (Suzanne), and many beloved relatives and friends.

Nicolas was a man of remarkable strength, kindness, and generosity. Through his faith in God and devotion to others, he earned the love, respect, and admiration of all who knew him. His family was his greatest blessing and the source of his greatest happiness. He touched many lives through his wisdom, integrity, and willingness to help others. He made people feel valued and cared for, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be remembered for his warm smile, wonderful sense of humor, impressive physique, and the countless stories he shared that enriched the lives of all who loved him.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 2975 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nicolas’ memory may be made to St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral.
