It is with profound sadness that the family of Perry Shawn Basha announces his passing on May 12th, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on April 5th, 1977, Perry lived a life defined by love, laughter, loyalty, and an unwavering dedication to those he cherished.

Perry proudly served his country as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, where he built a distinguished and formative career. His years in uniform shaped him into a man of discipline, integrity, and quiet strength. As a veteran, Perry carried with him the values of service, camaraderie, and resilience; qualities that touched every part of his life and the lives of those around him.

Perry leaves behind his beloved wife, Melanie Basha, and his cherished children: Nicholas, Jaxson, and Julie, each of whom brought immense pride and joy to his life.

He is survived by his loving mother, Lillian Basha, and his siblings: Marilyn (Rick Stamp), Mona, and Fred (Doris). Perry also leaves behind his sister‑in‑law, Kathy McGregor, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Perry is predeceased by his father, Clayton Basha (2024), and his brother, Wayne Basha (1997). Their memories remained deeply meaningful to him throughout his life.

Perry will be fondly missed by his mother‑in‑law and father‑in‑law, Brenda and Ronald Vallieres, who held him in the highest regard and loved him as part of their family. He will also be deeply missed by his close friends, Evan Pomeroy and Mel Smith, whose companionship enriched his life in countless ways.

Perry was a charismatic soul with an unmatched gift for bringing people together. A natural jokester and storyteller, he had a way of turning even the simplest moment into something unforgettable. Wherever Perry went, laughter followed; the kind that left people wheezing, wiping away tears, and holding their sides. His stories, his quick wit, and his infectious laugh filled every room he entered, creating a sense of connection and joy that drew people in and made them feel at home. Perry didn’t just entertain; he united people through humour, warmth, and the sheer force of his personality.

Known for his kindness, steady presence, and generous spirit, Perry touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, his stories, and his devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved.

The family takes comfort in knowing that Perry is reunited with those who went before him, most notably his best friend Craig Quigley, and that his legacy will endure through the many lives he impacted.

Family and friends are invited to Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), for a Visitation on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m., Interment to follow in the National Military Cemetery located at Beechwood Cemetery.
