It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Goski (nee Costello) on October 20, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.

As a courageous 18 years old, Mary left her home in Prince Edward Island to discover what the world might hold for her and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force — the beginning of a life of her own making, one filled with adventure, family, friendship, laughter, and extraordinary love. It was a life that introduced her to the love of her life, Len, and ultimately, carry her around the world.

Mary and Len married and built a remarkable life together, travelling the world while raising their family. Through each posting, every move and new chapter, Mary made a home. She was the constant at the centre of her family — the person who made wherever they were feel like they belonged.

Mary had a gift for making people feel welcome. There was always a sparkle in her eyes and joy in her laughter and she made and kept friendships wherever life took her.  She seemed to attract the very best people into her life and, often, those friends eventually became family.  Her circle of friends was wide, a reflection of the warmth and openness she brought to others.

After Len’s passing in 2014, Mary once again showed the independence and adventurous spirit that had defined her. She continued to embrace life and developed a passion for travelling, setting off on new adventures that took her to Greece, Portugal, Australia and beyond.  She remained curious about the world and enjoyed the chance to experience it.

Perhaps Mary’s greatest joy was being Oma. Her grandchildren brought a special happiness and fulfillment into her life, and she embraced every opportunity to love them, encourage them, celebrate them and simply be part of their lives. She delighted in watching them grow and took enormous pride in the people they were becoming. The memories they made with their Oma —and the unconditional love she gave them—will remain with them always and be her greatest legacy.

Mary is survived by her children, Steven, Leah and Jeff, and Shane and Jessica; her grandchildren, Autumn, Cole, Zosia and Saskia. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and by the many dear friends who became family along the way.

After twelve years apart, Mary will be reunited with Len, her husband, best friend and the love of her life. She will also be reunited with her beloved granddaughter, Chiara. She was also predeceased by her parents, Ambrose and Florence Costello. She will be deeply missed by extended family and dear friends.

She was our constant, our strength and our home. Her love will remain with us always.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation which will be held at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery & Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place in the Sacred Space at 1:00pm followed by the interment in Beechwood’s National Military Cemetery.  A reception will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Beechwood’s Borden and Fleming Suites.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation.
