It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lidija Duvnjak on September 3, 2026, at the age of 90 in Ottawa, Ontario.
Lidija was born on May 25, 1936, in Belgrade, Serbia, to Ludmila (Predavec) Nikolajevic and Zvonimir Janovic. She was also predeceased by her stepfather, Zoran Nikolajevic.
Lidija is lovingly remembered by her husband, Zdravko Duvnjak, and her two sons, Milan and Dusan (Sylvie). She was a proud and loving Baka to her cherished grandchildren, Audrey (Jonathan), Isabelle (Yann), Melissa, and Nikola, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She will also be fondly remembered by her brother, George Nikolayevich (Sally), and by her niece and nephew, Alec and Lida (James).
Lidija will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. Passionate about painting and colour, she found joy in creative expression and took great pleasure in life’s simple treasures. The sea, the warmth of the sun, and time spent by the water always brought a smile to her face and a sense of peace to her heart.
A Funeral Service will be held at Beechwood Funeral Home (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario). On Friday, September 18, 2026. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9:15 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 10 a.m. Followed by an Interment in Beechwood Cemetery with a Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perley Health Foundation in memory of our beloved Lidija.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Perley Health for their compassionate care, kindness, and support.
Lidija’s love, warmth, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
