Hsiang Hua Chu (nee Wong), age 77, of Ottawa, Ontario passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 3, 2026 at Ruddy Shenkman Hospice in Kanata.
Hsiang Hua was born on September 26th, 1948 in Taishan, Guangdong, China. She and her husband and their 3 children immigrated to Canada in 1982. They settled in Ottawa and shortly after she began working in a Chinese restaurant. Though it was strenuous and hard work, she was not deterred by it and applied herself to the task.
Hsiang Hua was a loving and devoted mother and sacrificially put her family’s needs above her own. Family came first and was above all else to her, a value she exhibited to those around her. She worked tirelessly outside and in the home. Hsiang Hua always showed hospitality to those who came to her home. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals and gardening; when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her garden taking care of her vegetables.
Hsiang Hua was predeceased by her father and mother, Yet Kwai and Wai Kim Wong. She is survived by her husband Wei Hsien, her three children Judy, Connie, and Yao, her older brother and two younger sisters who are in China.
Hsiang Hua’s memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends. Her legacy as a loving, kind, supportive, thoughtful and generous mother and person will continue to inspire us all. In our hearts, she lives on, and we will forever honour her as a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on each of our lives. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. We will miss her dearly.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa, ON) on Thursday, September 10th, 2026 at 1pm.
