In loving memory of Eric Lewis Marshall: October 3, 1962 to October 17, 2026.  Retired Ottawa Fire Services Captain. Eric was predeceased by his father Gordon (October 10, 2026) and his son Kyle (August 9, 2016).  He is survived by his mother Ann, his partner Cathy, his daughter Robin (Ryan), his sister Julie (Peter), his brother Glenn (Pim), his brother Brian (Krisha), numerous nieces, nephews and beloved cousins.

Eric’s sources of joy included time relaxing with his family and hanging out with his foster dogs. He took an all or nothing approach to his passions including but not limited to: golfing, working out, fast cars, chess and most impressively, table tennis. He was a fierce and successful competitor, traveling repeatedly to the Police and Fire games throughout North America, among other tournaments of all sizes. He was a man of few words but was thoughtful, and succinct.

A reception will be held for friends, family, colleagues and teammates at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Thursday, October 29 from 3 to 6 p.m.

In memory of Eric, donations to The FAM Network would be appreciated.

  4. What a kind and gentle man. We will miss you. Sending love from England xx

  5. My sincere condolences to the Marshall family at this most difficult time.

Eric and I played many different sports together while growing up in Crystal Beach.

May Eric rest in eternal peace 🙏

  6. Eric had become part of the fabric of my existence as we regularly pounded table tennis balls in my basement. I don’t see this tear mending anytime soon. He has left too big a hole.

  7. Eric and I played table tennis at the same club for two years. He was a man of few words, but he was always genuine and kindly gave me coaching on my game. I am deeply saddened by his passing, and my thoughts and heart go out to his family.

  8. As a table tennis player with lots of bad habits and poor technique I found Eric to be kind , patient and generous with his time and advice . He often played with those who were clearly not as good just so that he could help them get better by his special brand of instruction . Eric my improved forehand stroke is played in memory of you .
