Gary Wilbert Doe, born on February 21, 1940, in Granby, Quebec. It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Gary lost his battle with cancer on October 10, 2026, in his 87th year, at The Ottawa Hospital General Campus in Ottawa, Ontario.
Beloved husband of the late Myrna Verena Doe (Owen). Proud and loving father of Bruce (Sherri) and Dawn Brown (Chris). Brother of Crispin and predeceased by his younger sister, Helen. Cherished Grandpa and Papa of Alexander (Stephanie), Mitchell (Bettina), Troy (Calesha), Sarah (Bryson), and Connor. Great-grandpa of Mason, Olivia Rose, and Augustus.
In addition, Gary leaves behind his best childhood friend of 86 years, Garth Smith.
Gary’s time in the Air Force, which he joined at just 17 years old, instilled in him a lifelong dedication to discipline, honour, and loyalty. He began his military career at the rank of Private and, through exceptional leadership and merit, worked his way up to earn his commission as an RCAF Captain, the rank at which he retired.
Gary had many hobbies, including gardening, woodworking, and five-pin bowling. However, his most accomplished hobby was undoubtedly the number of cars he purchased over his lifetime. We lost count, but the last total was around 62! I’m sure he has it written down somewhere for us to find someday!
Rest in peace, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Brother, and Friend. Gary, you will be missed by all. We love you very much.
