Portrait of Ann Alvena Boyd

It is with great sadness that the family of Ann Boyd announces her passing on September 13, 2026 in Ottawa, Ontario at the age of 92.

Ann was born in Lincoln, England to Kenneth and Alvena Isaac on July 11, 1934. Ann was the eldest of seven children and raised in Boston, England.

At an early age, Ann demonstrated a great talent for dance. This led to her attending the Tring Park School for Performing Arts, where she flourished. In 1957, an opportunity arose to teach at a dance school in Chatham, Ontario. Ann secured passage on an ocean liner to Canada. Eventually, she settled in Halifax where she met her husband Ken, originally from Glasgow, Scotland.

After their wedding in 1961, they settled in Port Credit, Ontario. Ann and Ken were blessed with twins, Adam and Sarah in 1962, followed by Andrew in 1967. The family returned to England in the early 1970s but moved back to Canada shortly after. They then moved to Ottawa in 1978 for Ken to pursue his career in civil aviation medicine with the Federal Government. In the late 1980s, Ann and Ken moved to Vancouver for a few years, eventually retiring to Ottawa in 1995. They enjoyed many years of travelling and made many friends through Scottish country dancing. Ann maintained contact with a wide circle of friends in many parts of the world. She will especially be remembered for being a wonderful and gracious hostess.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Sarah and Andrew (Dilhari) and grandchildren Matthew, Daniel, Marisha, Natasha and Scott. She was predeceased by her husband Ken, son Adam and son-in-law George. Special thanks to Extendicare-Starwood who provided compassionate care during her time there.

Ann was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and cherished memories. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
