It is with deep sadness, but with hearts full of gratitude for a long and beautifully lived life, that we announce the passing of Pearl Cecilia Trudeau (nee Gordon) who left us peacefully on July 3, 2026 at the age of 91.

Born on August 28, 1935 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Pearl was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Gordon. Loving wife of the late Robert Trudeau for 58 years. Beloved mother of her sons Robert (Cindy Gill) and Michael (Christine Dube). Predeceased by her cherished daughter Marie Michele Therese (1971). Proud grandmother to her precious grandson Benjamin. She will be fondly remembered by her step-grandson Shea and step-great-granddaughter Bailey.  Loving sister of Eva and Grace. Pearl was predeceased by her siblings: Lawrence, Lorraine, Robert and Raymond. She will be dearly missed by her close friends Delyse (Dee) Ramsay, Lorraine and Bud Milloy. She will be especially missed by her close friend, Carrie Gow, whose constant love and friendship meant the world to her.

Pearl grew up on a farm near Moosomin, SK where she and her siblings were helping hands in a labour of love to support the family farm. At the age of 10, Pearl got involved in 4H learning to care for animals. At 16, Pearl moved closer to town where she took care of her younger siblings so they could go to school.  As a teenager, she loved to play hockey and baseball.

After high school, she did some practice teaching in Wawota, Saskatchewan that inspired her to attend Teachers College in Brandon, Manitoba and enjoy a successful teaching career in Shilo, Manitoba. It was in Shilo where Pearl met the love of her life, Bob, who was serving at the 28 Central Ordinance Depot at the time. They wed in 1962 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan at Our Lady of Fatimah Church. After the wedding, they packed up all their belongings into a Volkswagen and travelled to Quebec City, where they honeymooned and began their married life. It was here that both Michelle and Robert were born. After moving to Rivers, Manitoba, Michael was born and for many years more, Pearl proudly walked through life as a military wife embracing the unique challenges and adventures of military life, packing up their home and moving their family to various bases and communities across Canada.

A woman of immense creativity and warmth, Pearl brought beauty into the world through her many passions. She was an avid gardener who loved tending to her plants, a talented painter, and an accomplished musician who filled the home with music from her piano. She enjoyed fond memories of when she worked with both her boys at the IGA, Orleans, where she managed the Plant Department for many years. Her family and friends will forever treasure the beautiful pieces she created through crochet and knitting, as well as the memories of the wonderful meals she lovingly cooked.

Over the years, a special thanks to the entire staff in the ER Department at the Montfort Hospital and the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their special care.

Our sincere thanks goes to the wonderful staff at The Waterford Grand with special mention to Maggie, Leticia, Serena, Edith and Bayan who gave her extra special care. Thank you to Dr. Reena Goindi for the respectful and compassionate care she showed Pearl in her final days. Thank you to Christine’s mother, Helene Dube for all her support to the family during the past few months.

Lastly, our hearts are full of gratitude for Dr. Christine Dube. As Mom’s daughter-in-law and personal physician for the last fifteen years, she provided so much more than just medical treatment—she gave her the highest standard of care, always going above and beyond. We will forever be grateful for the deep compassion, dedication, and kindness she showed Mom.”

Robert remembers how Mom was always supportive of her two boys, no matter what kind of mischief they managed to find.

Mom, everyone loved the cookies you made for my friends—it’s the one thing my buddies still always talk about. It was the honor of my life to take care of you these past few months and to make sure you got to see Ben play hockey, which I know brought you so much joy. And we had the absolute most fun together when we got stuck in that torrential downpour on Canada Day; that is a memory that will never be forgotten. Forever, I love you Mom, Michael.

As Bob and Pearl both would say – “It’s time to go”. God Bless You.

  1. Pearl, you were the most wonderful friend of 40 years. How blessed I was to have you in my life. There are angels on this earth that are disguised as humans and you my friend were certainly one of them
    Rest in Peace. Dee

  2. Mike, Christine & Ben,

I was lucky enough to get to know Pearl a little while we were watching Ben & Owyn play hockey together. She was always smiling and everyone could tell how much she enjoyed not only watching her grandson play hockey but watching how passionate her son was on the bench. Mike you honour your parents everyday with how selfless and giving you are to all that you meet which is a testament to how your parents raised you. I count myself lucky to have had the chance to meet Pearl and your family.
