Margaret Elizabeth Clarke (nee Jennings)

On Thursday June 11th, after a courageous two-month battle with illness, Margaret Clarke passed away peacefully at the age of 81 at the Ottawa General Hospital

Margaret leaves behind her husband Myles T. Gregg, her three sons Sean, Christian (Brie Mahony) and Ryan Clarke (Lindsay Esslinger), and her siblings Bill, Jim (Nina), Mary-Lee, and Cy (Lynn) Jennings and her younger sister Clare Dupuis, and many loving nephews and nieces who will miss her dearly.

Margaret was born in Noranda Quebec to Cyril and Mary Jennings. In 1952, the family moved to Ottawa, where the six siblings grew up together. They would eventually settle on Lindsay Street in Alta Vista, in a home that was filled with love that became a cherished gathering place for many years, and was a place of many memories for their children at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. There were also the many memories at the family cottages in Chapeau Quebec with a fourth generation now playing on the beach.

In 1967, she married David Clarke (deceased), and in 1968 welcomed their eldest son, Sean. Two more followed, Christian in 1973, and Ryan in 1975.

In 1993 she would meet the love of her life, Myles Gregg. The two travelled the world and cherished their friends and family.  After a lengthy courtship, they married on May 16th 2016. Myles brought flowers to her hospital bed on their tenth wedding anniversary.

Margaret will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished sibling and aunt, and treasured friend. She held especially close the friendships she shared with her high school friends, Carly, Sue and Louise, who stood faithfully by her side in her final days.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday July 4th in the Sacred Space of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm followed by interment at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces and a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation will be appreciated.
