After a long and very full life, Linda Forgie passed away peacefully in Ottawa with family by her side on Wednesday April 29, at the age of 94.
For 66 years Linda was the beloved wife of her late husband Robert Forgie [deceased November 25, 2020] whom she met in England during chemistry class at the age of 16. She was a wonderful mother to Melissa (Steve Williams) and Jeremy (Sal Polito), and she adored her grandchildren Julia (Kieran Waugh), Chloe and Will. Linda also took great delight in great grandsons, Atticus and Bennett.
Linda was the daughter of Frederick Wells and Florence Hills and sister to Richard. She was born in Ipswich, England and immigrated with her husband Rob to Canada in 1958. Linda studied mathematics and physics at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland. She lived a long happy marriage with her husband Rob in England and Libya prior to immigrating to Canada after which she and Rob lived in Penhold, Alberta, Washington D.C., Halifax Nova Scotia, Lahr Germany and lastly in Ottawa.
Linda loved life and was an avid painter, student of art history and early devotee of computer games. Linda, together with Rob, loved spending time with their dogs, cats and horses on their hobby farm in Kinburn, Ontario, which they ran for 30 years.
The family wishes to thank the exceptional team at the May Court Hospice who cared for Linda in her last days and supported her family all with profound kindness, professionalism and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the May Court Hospice or the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.
There will be a Private Family Service held at a later date at Beechwood Cemetery.
