It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Laura Kavoliunas on July 25, 2026, at the age of 58 at St-Vincent’s Hospital, Ottawa.
Laura was born in Montreal, Quebec on May 20th, 1968, beloved daughter of Jean Kavoliunas (née Meistas) and late father, Captain Anthony Kavoliunas. Laura leaves behind her mother, Jean, her brother, Michael, sister-in-law, Marie-Reine, her nephew, Lorenzo, and niece, Arianna. She will also be greatly missed by her best friends Lynn Petros and Beatrice Stoklas.
Having graduated from McGill University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and MIS, Laura worked hard to become Senior Manager at Accenture and then later Senior Managing Consultant at IBM. Through her work she was able to travel throughout Canada, the US, and Europe. Later, she founded her own consulting firm, specializing in PeopleSoft HCM.
A self-professed introvert, Laura nonetheless made good friends wherever she went. She was also a devoted godmother to Marlene and Darius Petros-Oommen, of whom she was extremely proud. Adoring dog mom to Molly, Laura became an avid member of the canine dock diving community.
Laura was a remarkable person whose strength, generosity, and indomitable spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. A force of nature, a fighter, she lived with authenticity, principle, and an unwavering loyalty to those she cared about.
We invite all who knew Laura to join us in celebrating her life at a memorial service on Saturday, August 8th at 10:00 AM at Beechwood Funeral Home, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ottawa Humane Society.
Rest in peace, Laura. We will miss you dearly and remember you always.
