June passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the age of 91, with family by her side. Predeceased by her cherished husband of 58 years, John Oliver. Loving mother to Laurie (Gary) and Jeff (Gail). Adored grandmother of Robynne (Daniel), Katie (Steve), Carys, and Evan, and great-grandmother to Isabelle, Dominic, Evelyn, Charlotte, and Adelynne. Beloved aunt to Carolyn, Scott, and Patrick, as well as many more in western Canada.

June was born in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Ontario on June 3, 1935. After becoming a teacher, she started her teaching career in Niagara Falls. She then went to West Germany to teach elementary students of Canadian military families. Here she met her husband, John, who was serving as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force. They married and started their family in Lahr, before military postings took them to Cold Lake, Edmonton, Petawawa, Trenton, and Ottawa. They eventually retired in Trenton, where they spent the last 30 years. June enjoyed her retirement filled with Red Hat Society get-togethers, Beta Sigma Phi meetings, 413 Wing socials, and frequent family visits. She loved learning new things on her computer and was able to tackle even the most challenging of logic puzzles better than her children and grandchildren.

But more than anything, June was a true port in the storm for her family, always opening her heart and home without hesitation to those who needed a soft place to land. This hospitality extended to cats as well, with various strays finding their way into her house over the years—including more than one named Boots. Famous for her love of white wine, white chocolate, and of course, black and white cats, she never let an event or occasion pass without sending one of her famous Jacquie Lawson e-cards, often ending with her signature line, “what I appreciate, appreciates”.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the amazing staff at Beacon Heights Retirement Residence, and Bayshore Home Care Solutions, for their care and kindness. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Internment will take place at the Beechwood National Military Cemetery, on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 3 pm. Online condolences and memories may be shared through the Beechwood website.
