Patricia passed peacefully in her 93rd year in Ottawa on Sunday, June 28th, 2026. Devoted wife of 70 years to the late Floyd Fredrick Boettger. Loving mother to Evan, Peter (Patty), Aileen, Dean (Lorena) and daughter-in-law Lucille. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Eric (Laurie), Lisanne (Donovan), Alex, Nadia (Patrick), Eryn, Kaitlin, Dylan, Megan (Michael), Sean, Jimena (MacKenzie), and Joshua; and great grandchildren: Jonathon, Xavier, Benjamin, and Olivia. Dear sister to George, Edith, Harold, Rita, Margaret, Sadie, Ena, and Frances.
Born in Canso, Nova Scotia, on March 2, 1933, she was the daughter of Letitia Mae (MacDuff) Hurst and Evan Mack Hurst. Patricia was raised by her beloved aunt Edith (MacDuff) Jarvis, after the passing of her mom. Growing up, Patricia was a straight A student, gifted in mathematics and bookkeeping. At a local dance in Halifax, she met Floyd and they were soon inseparable. When the Navy posted Floyd back to the West Coast in 1955, Patricia traveled across the country to join him in Esquimalt, British Columbia, where they later married on February 22, 1956.
A proud devoted wife and mother, she was always soft spoken, she loved unconditionally and was steadfast in her convictions yet showed remarkable empathy to those around her. Within her was a childlike readiness and joy for play. Whether playing a hand of cards or playing Peek-a-Boo with grandchildren, Mom’s genuine smile shone brightly. She was an avid card player, beloved baker, ballroom dancer, Bingo enthusiast, curler, bowler, and loving matriarch. Mom will be missed by all for her nurturing heart, endearing spirit, generous smile, giggles and welcoming nature. A private funeral and service will be held at Beechwood Cemetery on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
