Portrait de Guillermo Leopoldo Ceppi, OAA, FRAIC

Died peacefully, on April 16, 2026, in Ottawa, surrounded by family, after a courageous fight with cancer.  Adored spouse of Michelle; devoted father to Nicholas, Christopher (Sofia), and Maximiliano; and loving grandfather to Calian.  Beloved brother to Teresita (Eddie) and Juan Martin (Margarita), brother-in-law to Stacy (Nigel) and son-in-law to Lorne and Brenda. Adoring uncle to Teresita, Ximena, Tomas, Josefina, Martina, Agustin and Hannah.  Guillermo was predeceased by his loving parents, Guillermo and Teresita Ceppi of Adrogue, Argentina.

Guillermo was the Chief Architect at Global Affairs Canada for almost two decades and an expert in diplomatic facility design.  In this work, he amalgamated his passion for the built environment with his love of travel and culture. Guillermo graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a Master of Architecture degree and professional license, and practiced architecture in Argentina before relocating to Canada for postgraduate studies in architecture at McGill. Licensed in Ontario and Quebec (retired), and a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, he left his mark in private practice and public service.

Always generous with his time and his smile, he will be remembered for his wit, humour and zest for living. He lived a full life, loved and was well loved by his family and many cherished friends including Solange (Oscar), Dario and “the Greens”.

The family wishes to thank Dr Derek Jonkers, Dr Charlene Habibi and Kas for their dedicated care, kindness and support during his cancer journey.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are welcome.

A private funeral service has been held at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services.

  5. Dear Michelle and Guillermo’s family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Guillermo’s passing.
I had the privilege of knowing Guillermo since 2008, when we worked together on the new Chancery project in Mexico. From the very beginning, he stood out not only for his professionalism, but for the way he carried himself with quiet strength, kindness, and genuine respect for those around him. He was a truly gentle and deeply human colleague, someone who brought people together and made even the most complex challenges feel manageable.
Guillermo’s perseverance and dedication to his craft were remarkable, but what I will remember most is his warmth his smile, and the ease with which he connected with others. He had a rare ability to combine excellence with humility, and to approach both his work and life with a sense of purpose and grace.
Knowing that he faced his illness with the same courage and dignity that defined his life is both humbling and inspiring.
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Guillermo leaves behind a legacy not only of professional accomplishment, but of humanity, generosity, and a life well lived.
    With deepest sympathy,

  8. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Guillermo’s family. I met Guillermo over 30 years ago when he was Chief Architect for Canada, his experience and design advice was very valuable and appreciated in the design development of Parliament Hill’s West Block Renovation. He was a pleasure to work with.

  9. Dear Michelle, Nick, Chris and Max

Guillermo’s passing has left us shocked with grief and sadness, while also bringing back many fond memories of the moments we shared together. Our families grew up side by side and enjoyed so many wonderful times — Christmases, summer tennis and games, afternoons by the pool, and skiing in the winter.

Though life took us in different directions as the years passed, Guillermo always remained one of our most trusted friends and a cherished part of our memories from those younger days. His warmth and friendship meant a great deal to us, and we will remember him with great fondness.

    With deepest sympathy and caring,
